Welcome from President
Dear Spartans,
Congratulations on choosing to be part of this vibrant, diverse and caring university community that is Michigan State.
Like many of you, I’m pretty new to MSU. I spent the spring and summer getting acquainted with faculty and staff colleagues across the university and have been most warmly received. Through our Fall Welcome and other orientation activities, I hope you feel the same as you settle in.
What I’ve seen convinces me that, at Michigan State, you have virtually unlimited opportunities to learn, make lifelong friends and grow. But I know that finding your place in such a dynamic community doesn’t always come easily. In fact, meeting people might be even harder than when I was an undergraduate, due to competition for our attention from electronic devices and other social factors.
So, we are working harder than ever to support your entry into our amazing community of scholars. You’ll see us doing things like sharing the experiences of upper-level students in our social media and other channels. You’ll see messages around campus offering opportunities to join activities and meet others. You’ll receive information about available resources and how to support your academic success. And when you see me around campus, I hope you feel free to say hello and let me know how you’re doing.
And there’s nothing like Fall Welcome for a full immersion into this busy campus! It’s a great, early opportunity to find your social groups, with more than 1,000 registered student organizations in addition to innumerable events and activities throughout the year.
I urge you to approach your Michigan State University experience with curiosity, a sense of adventure and a determination to engage. Remember that our university faculty and staff are here to support your success, and you can take advantage of the many student support resources we offer, from academic advising to health care.
At Michigan State, you are an important part of something big and wonderful: a lifelong community of Spartans. Go Green!
Sincerely,
Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D.

Dear MSU Students,
Welcome to the 2024-25 academic year! The collective and collaborative work across the Office of the Provost has established a network of academic resources and services to foster your academic success and the success of our entire community of learners and scholars. This is done through the work that takes place in each of our colleges, and by a broad range of offices across the university that support the operational side of MSU’s academic mission. Together and individually, we are here for you. I encourage you to reach out for help or guidance from any of us, at any time, at provost@msu.edu.
As you prepare for the start of fall semester, please explore the information available on the Fall Welcome website. Welcome from the Senior Vice President for Student Life & Engagement
Welcome to Michigan State University (MSU) and to this exciting next chapter of your life. Whether you are new, returning or transferring from another institution, the 2024-25 year offers a world of opportunity for all Spartans.
MSU takes great pride in its core values of quality, inclusiveness and connectivity. As a place characterized by diversity of cultures and nationalities, you are encouraged to become an active part of campus and take advantage of the richness and the learning opportunities this diversity provides.
As you explore campus and adjust to life at MSU, you will face many decisions. I encourage you to make those decisions with care, both for yourself and your fellow Spartans. Your safety, health and well-being are of the upmost importance to us.
Faculty, through the classroom, and the varied support staff outside of the classroom are ready to assist you as you advance your knowledge and continue to transform your life.
Again, welcome to MSU. Let’s all work together to make our campus a community of learners that is inviting, comfortable, civil, and free of bias both in and outside of the classroom.
Sincerely,
Vennie Gore
