Dear Spartans,
Welcome — or welcome back — to Michigan State University for the 2023-24 academic year. An exciting year awaits: one filled with unique opportunities to explore, learn and grow in a welcoming scholarly community that is focused on your success.
Here, you can learn from world-class faculty members and leaders in their fields in a vibrant university setting. Here, you can sample a wide range of studies from hundreds of courses. And here, you can complement your studies with the personal growth offered through cocurricular activities, including internships, service-learning and education abroad.
Enjoy the many entertainment and cultural activities hosted here, from sports events to musical, dance and theater performances to thought-provoking offerings at our museums and in special lectures. Grow your personal networks by participating in some of the 1,000-plus registered student organizations at MSU. Serve your community and expand your awareness by volunteering. Develop your understanding of other people and cultures by being an active part of this diverse and supportive campus community. Have fun at campus events and treat yourself to an MSU Dairy Store ice cream cone or enjoy a restorative stroll through our gardens.
The university offers a broad range of resources to support you, from academic advising to health services to recreational opportunities. Familiarize yourself with those as you learn your way around campus to take full advantage of the Spartan educational experience.

Welcome, Spartan!
We are excited to have you on campus. Whether you’re living with us for the first time or returning to MSU, we’re happy to be moving forward and kicking off the 2023-24 academic year together.
As a member of the Spartan community, you have many opportunities for engagement and resources available to support you in making the most of your journey at MSU.
You, our students, bring unique perspectives, varied talents, innumerable interests, and so much more to this learning community. Your input and involvement help make us better. We encourage you to expand your knowledge and perspectives through interaction with people from different cultures, life experiences and backgrounds. Getting to know your fellow Spartans is part of the college experience.
As you explore campus and familiarize yourself with your peers, you will face many decisions. We urge you to make those decisions with care, both for yourself and your fellow Spartans. Your safety, health and well-being are of the upmost importance to us.
